The once in a lifetime opportunity to have chat with Australia's longest serving judge, now Professor Michael Kirby. Specially for the TULS committee.

He shared about everything we could ask him, from his involvement in student leadership to standing out, access to justice, his 'genetics and environment', soft spot for minorities, refugees, pro bono work, his first lover and to the struggles and wins in the legal professions.

What I got from him on standing out: be a joiner, join and get involved in the activities, conferences and all. This will get you ahead.

Opportunity-minded.

Some years ago, the El Cortez Hotel had a problem – due to high occupancy they badly needed another lift. But to do that, they had to close the hotel and cut a hole in each floor.

Then a janitor suggested, "Why not build the lift on the outside?" The experts were shocked, but they took it up and built the lift outside, the first time ever. The janitor was not problem-minded. He was opportunity-minded.

*Credits to my father for the story.

Copyright and YouTube.

Watch this.

54.5 million YouTube views and counting. Chris Brown did not claim copyright and remove the song because the publicity and popularity of the song superseded the fact that the song was under copyright.

It was to popular that it got into number 4 on the iTunes charts. And the song was already 18 months also.

The video collected about 26,000 dollars in donations to end domestic violence.

'But it's not just about dollars and impressions. Just look at all the joy that was spread through progressive rights management and new technology. And I think that we can all agree that joy is definitely an idea worth spreading.'
